This person has to have the confidence and experience to play a leading role in a young and rapidly growing international team; an affinity both with the subject matter – being personal finance; and with our target audience - being young millennials and Gen Zs. We’re looking for someone who is purpose-driven and wants to be a critical player in helping us achieve our ambition, which is to democratise financial literacy and empower youth to successfully manage their personal finances.
Reporting to the Managing Partner, you’ll be responsible for the overall delivery and performance of The Simple Sum, which includes leading a team of inspiring, young creators and commercial operatives. You must be strategically minded, with the vision to ensure that The Simple Sum continues to innovate and inspire, whilst retaining a relevant editorial perspective and commercial viability.
To have full product ownership and accountability both from an editorial, brand and commercial point of view
To grow the business holistically, internationally
Lead, manage and grow a diverse and purpose-driven team, which includes developing international, satellite teams
Develop and manage budgets and forecasts with full accountability
Lead strategy on campaigns, working collaboratively across the team to help generate and protect revenue, included but not limited to creating high investment media plans and proposals
Be the leader of the post-sale process, overseeing campaign implementation and optimizing to create positive results and client experiences, that both protect revenue and generate renewal revenue
Assign and edit a range of stories across the personal finance and related content verticals, ensuring quality assurance and continually enhance the overall product
Work with leadership on recruiting and hiring the best talent
To direct and oversee project pilots, ensuring pilots are on-brand and well-managed
Ensure teams are up to date and implementing global best practice in their respective areas
Present and speak publicly about The Simple Sum with confidence, in a compelling way
Partner with the legal, communications, and corporate strategy teams, as appropriate
+5 years’ media experience at publisher, agency or related media business, with client-facing exposure
+2 years’ management experience
Experience forming and/or managing regional &/or international teams highly favoured
Relevant qualifications in new media and/or related areas
Ability to create and commercialise a range of digital and traditional mediums including but not limited to websites, social channels, podcasts, events and games
Demonstrable data-driven content development and content marketing skills
Proven expertise in formulating effective content and commercial strategy
Expertise in media math (CPM, CPV, media metrics etc.)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrable understanding of media inventory forecasting
Wide range of sources and contacts across South East Asia, and ideally other global markets
An effective public speaker and presenter, ideally with media training
An eye for editorial talent, and a track record of developing emerging content creators
The highest journalistic and legal standards
A collaborative spirit, and the ability to work across departments and global offices
